Heirloom Ambrosia Salad

This memorable old-fashioned, now heirloom ambrosia salad has made an appearance at every family BBQ for longer than I care to remember!  It is made with sour cream and not Cool Whip or yogurt like some ambrosia recipes I’ve seen.  I love sour cream!  I could eat a spoonful right from the container!  It has just the right combination of fruit and it’s so easy to put together in just a few…

Hawaiian Wedding Cake (Carrot Cake with Coconut, Pineapple, and Walnuts)

What a rich, moist carrot cake this is! And it is made with pureed carrot baby food!  This vintage recipe needs no frosting! There are many variations of cakes called Hawaiian Wedding Cake. Some are like this one, based on a carrot cake. Some are white and have a coconut frosting. This version is really a carrot cake taken up a notch that I’ve gotten…

Ricotta Cheese Cookies

Ricotta Cookies are so good!!! One bite of these and you go, mmmm!   They are a  much sweeter cookie in comparison to the egg biscuits they resemble.  The ricotta cheese gives it a soft texture.   This is a favorite cookie of mine. I love the texture and the strong vanilla in them. I make them every Christmas. See more pictures in the slideshow…

Cranberry Bread

This is an oldie but goodie recipe! My Aunt Gloria used to make this often and I loved it. No mixer needed! It is all made by hand!   You can swap the shortening for butter if you want. To me, this is the best, moist cranberry bread recipe! And, it cuts into nice, clean slices! Enjoy!

Opera Fudge

If you like white chocolate, try Opera Fudge! Typically Opera Fudge has just candied red cherries in it.  I added walnuts which you can leave out if you prefer. Yes, I serve Opera Fudge on an Opera Plate! That plate is a scene from Puccini’s “Madame Butterfly”.   This fudge is worthy of its name. It is exquisite! Like opera is! Enjoy!”

Chocolate Hazelnut Linzer Cookies

A chocolate, hazelnut, and lightly spiced variation of the Traditional Christmas Linzer cookie. Delicious and pretty!

Cranberry Orange Scones

This is my own version of cranberry scones.  I like a lot of orange zest, or at least it has enough to taste the orange flavor!  And I like my scones the American way, which is sweet and soft!  Europeans prefer a drier and less sweet scone, more like a biscuit. This is soft and yummy, bursting with plenty of real cranberries! It is a very…
