Easy Apple Cherry Crisp

Easy Apple Cherry Fruit Crisp

“An easy, very fast fruit crisp I quickly threw together one day and it became a “keeper” recipe!  You taste the apples with a bit of extra sweetness from the cherry pie filling.  It is not overly sweet like many other crisps.  Double the recipe for a larger one that will use a whole can of cherry pie filling.

Serve warm or cold.  Extra special indulgence: serve with whipped cream or ice cream.   Enjoy!”

Servings: 5

1/2 (15-ounce) can cherry pie filling
2 apples cut into wedges
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon lemon peel
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup oats
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup butter or margarine

1. Preheat oven to 350°.
2. Grease or spray a small oven-proof casserole dish (1- 1/2 quarts).
3. In a small bowl, mix the cherry pie filling, apples, lemon juice and lemon peel.
4. Spoon the mixture into the prepared casserole dish.
5. In another small bowl, mix the flour, oats, sugar, and brown sugar together.
6. Cut in the butter until you get coarse crumbs.
7. Sprinkle the crumbs over the apple cherry mixture.
8. Bake for 30 minutes.
9. Serve warm or cold.
