Equipment

  • large 10 or 12-inch skillet

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ¼ brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ cup butter
  • 4 apples large
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • ½ cup water cold

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, mix together the sugar, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Set aside.
  • Peel the apples and slice them one-quarter inch thick.
  • In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium low heat.
  • Add in the sliced apples. Sauté and stir constantly until the apples are almost tender, about 7-8 minutes.
  • In a small bowl, dissolve the cornstarch in the water to make a slurry. Stir the slurry gently into the apples in the pan.
  • Stir in the brown sugar mixture and let it gently boil for about 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  • Serve warm.

EXTRA TIP:

MIX UP THE FRUIT!!    Pears, peaches!  Mangos!  Whatever you want!
FOR BERRIES, stir them in at the end just before serving so they don't get too soft.
